Like I mentioned in the last post, I did a small project in Leah's room. I've been looking for a neat idea to display some of her books in her room but couldn't find anything UNTIL I started Pinterest less than a week ago. It's definitely time consuming if you don't give yourself a time to stop. A 5 minute browse can easily turn into an hour if you don't watch it (personal experience speaking here)! Anyway, I found this cool idea on the blog of one of the homeschooling moms i follow on Pinterest and it's exactly what I was looking for so this weekend I ran out to Lowes and bought what I needed to complete this project. What is the project you ask? Well it's book shelves made from rain gutters :) Here is the tutorial:
Rain Gutter Book Shelves Tutorial I love the theory behind these book shelves. The theory being that it encourages children to read more because they can see the fronts of the books instead of just the spine, or in my case, all thrown into a tote that fits in my cube organizer in the toy room that they have to dig through. It's also at their level so they can pick what book they want to read and put them back, which of course, helps with tidying up :)
It took Chris less than an hour to do this. The longest part was figuring out how we wanted it laid out on the wall and measuring to make sure each one is level.
